First Presbyterian Church in Newhall has once again asked for our help when they host Family Promise, Jan. 29-Feb. 5.
Family Promise brings shelter, meals, and support services to families without homes. Family Promise is a cost-efficient, effective community response to family homelessness. Students can earn Community Service hours by volunteering to bring food or act as a host to the families. Community Service Hours will be awarded as follows: Food Donations (misc. food items for the week) = 1 hr. Community Service Meal Preparation (main course, side dish, dessert and/or drinks) = 1hour of Community Service will be awarded for each hour spent on this assignment (shopping, cooking, transport) Maximum 1 hr. credit for shopping. Evening Host = 3 hrs. Community Service Overnight Host = 1 hr. Community Service for every hour student is awake and helping during the time period. If you volunteer for an overnight shift, please log the hours student is actually awake. For example, log as follows: 7-9pm (2 hrs); sleep from 9pm-3am (0 hours); wake 3-3:30am (awake to help care for a sick Family Promise client - .50 hrs.), wake 6-8am (2 hrs.) = 4.5 hours Community Service credit. IMPORTANT REMINDERS: - ONLY AEA ELEMENTARY SCV AND AEA AD COMMUNITY SERVICE FORMS WILL BE ACCEPTED. If there is no representative from the organization or Family Promise venue available to sign, simply leave the signature line blank. An AEA Community Service Representative will sign. - Always make a copy of your completed time sheet for your records before submitting. |
